More people than you can imagine have digestive issues that are either diagnosed by a doctor, self diagnosed, or Dr. Google. Answers at Walgreens is a program with different health topics; they have booklets, an online chat, and of course, the pharmacist at the store that can help you!! My family has had digestive health issues and I am hoping my baby doesn’t have problems as well. My favorite thing about the booklets is that they are filled with COUPONS & great information! You can find out more about my shopping experience and the booklets as you read more and visit my shopping trip album.
I am not very “comfortable” sharing my personal information about my digestive health so I usually keep it “bottled up inside”. I have a lot of jokes that comes along with being told I have IBS but I just tell people that having IBS is really “crappy”. I have been on prescription medicine to balance my digestive system and lots of over the counter including Probiotics and Miralax. I always struggle getting my digestive system under control. For the last several years I have taken Miralax every day. It seems to be stress related at times so I was told by my stomach doctor to do what I can to keep it under control and take more or less of the medicine until I am comfortable enough.
It has been more than 5 years since my last endoscopy and colonoscopy. I need to go back for my endoscopy buy I am choosing to wait a little longer until I am done nursing my daughter. Besides IBS, I had polyps, and a stomach hernia causing heartburn. The heartburn got under control on it’s own. So I only take TUMS or change up my diet if I feel it getting bad. I always have questions about what I take so I am happy that Answers at Walgreens is able to help.
They also say the apples don’t fall far from the tree. As I am feeding my newborn baby, I noticed her arching her back and crying when she has been gassy. I feel so bad for her because I KNOW how bad gas can hurt. I have had stomach pains almost every day for the last 6+ years.
Before I made my trip to the pharmacy, I decided to do my homework and consult with a Pharmacy Expert online! I asked about taking Probiotics AND giving my daughter gas drops. With both questions they let me know that they suggest I consult with my doctor. By being a member of Walgreens Balance Rewards program I was able to easily log in and have a private conversation (that I am making public, if you can zoom in to the following image).
After my chat: The pharmacist explained to me how using a Probiotic can help with my stomach pains. They also said that Gas Drops for my daughter would take 24-48 hours to start working (I had asked how long until they started working). I will definitely be using this chat feature more often. I feel a lot more comfortable chatting about my health issues than standing in line talking to someone face to face as a line of strangers forms behind me. Then as I went shopping I was able to get in and out pretty quickly.
- I am excited to try Probiotics for about a week to see if it helps with my stomach pain (since it can be a real “pain in the butt”).
- I am hoping the gas drops make my daughter a little calmer at night. She would definitely rather sleep while having me hold her. But I am concerned about the arching of her back and the screams before she burps and passes gas.
Off to the store to pick up the items I need! Plus, start using the probiotics I already have!
