While creating a blog and making money from it sounds fun, it is still a lot of work. Bloggers put in hours and hours every single day to keep their blogs running smoothly. Sometimes it can be overwhelming, and many times it can feel like you’re spinning your wheels because there is always going to be a bigger, better blogger out there that is just one step ahead of you. This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you.
Create a blog and add content.
Create your blog (I would only use WordPress). This part is easy. Simply follow the prompts on the screen and each site basically walks you through it. I will totally lean toward WordPress as the better of the two options! If you were my friend, I wouldn’t even tell you about blogger.
Adding content can be more difficult, because you don’t just want to put random things here and there – you want everything to have a rhyme and a reason. Decide what you want your blog to be about, and go from there.
Looking for the BEST host use BlueHost!
When adding content the BEST way to drive traffic is to have a niche, practice good SEO and we would recommend the Yoast Plugin on WordPress. Create a pictures that are sized for all your social channels. We love using Canva.
Grow your social media platforms.
Set up social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest) and get fans. You can get fans by creating giveaways and having your social media links as entries, or you can get fans by sharing and trading with other bloggers. As your social media presence grows, it will be like a snowball effect. It’s easier to get to 1,000 fans after you’ve already got 100. Starting out at 0 is tough, so enlist the help of your friends to grow quickly.
Affiliates, ad networks, etc.
Create accounts with popular affiliates that take new bloggers. Place their ads on your sidebar, or use their links in your posts. Using your social media platforms, advertise deals that will save your fans money but will also make you money.
Don’t be spammy, be helpful. Choose deals and links that will help your readers. Remember, it is going to take a little while to build up a good fan base. You want your readers and fans to trust you, so never post anything fishy.

Hard work.
Bottom line is, if you put the time and energy into your blog, it will grow and you will make money. Join blog groups, network with other bloggers in your niche, and even attend blogging conferences. Read everything you can about blogging. Be ethical and honest. And keep in mind that your relationship with your fans is very fragile at first, so make sure you don’t do anything to scam them or you will lose a lot of your readership.
