In the beginning of Joy (movie) the narrator (who pays the grandma) says, “when someone sees a weakness in me, I turn that weakness in a strength.” Joy’s grandma narrates the movie.
When going to see this movie I pictured it being a mix of Shark Tank meets success. I had no clue how much this movie would be about relationships. It is true that when you are an entrepreneur and starting a business you need to be surrounded by people that bring you up. There are going to be many people that try and some will bring you down. You have to be the one to have that “magic” and that “dream” to succeed. You have to be the one to see and believe in your product. THAT is what this movie is about. It is about life and a story of a lady becoming successful!
This movie has some amazing character and relationship development with some very talented and award winning names: Jennifer Lawrence, Robert DeNiro, and Bradley Cooper. You have beauty, strength, and pure hotness all in one! This movie was best described as a “deconstructed fairytale”. There is no Prince in the movie. Joy has to e the one to save her self with the trials of life, hate, and greed all wrapped into one. You will find Joy being motivated by love, life, and even anger. Joy has a beautiful message and is based on a TRUE STORY!
It is weird watching a movie when I see a lot of myself in the main character! I personally feel like I have the drive and motivation as Joy did. I am not sure I have the amount of “guts” she does. All I need is an idea!
Take your girlfriends to see this movie. Our theater was filled with what I noticed…women only. You will laugh, cry, and want to talk about her decisions that she made. The length of the movie was a little long…but when you think of the character and relationship development that went into each character it was well worth it!
Joy is NOW playing in theaters!
