A new video came out this week about Disney’s new movie Queen of Katwe. I am in tears after watching this clip. I LOVE to hear about how inspiring the movie was and how tough the characters’ lives were but HOW MUCH JOY they still had. Disney does an amazing job at telling stories and this movie is a story about a story.
Although it isn’t the same, my parents left their home country to create a better lifestyle for us. They started their family here in the United States. When they tell us their stories from “the old country” I hear nothing but joy and not heartbreak on how they once left everything (which was little in material good but lots in relationships) to move the the US.
This story is different but it shows struggles, determination, and yet joy! I love hearing about success even when all the cards are stacked against one. These stories are beautify and relatable.
Watch the clip below:
“Queen of Katwe” is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
