Doctor Strange Rachel McAdams Interview was made possible by my #DoctorStrangeEvent expense paid press trip to LA! She is AMAZING! Read below!
Rachel McAdams plays Christine Palmer in Marvel’s Doctor Strange! She is so beautiful and so sweet! She entered the room in an adorable off the shoulder top! Her personality was so charismatic and energetic!
Rachel use to be in the movie Mean Girls when I was growing up. She has played a lot of different roles but I definitely remember her role in that movie. She is far from mean and is all nice!
The chemistry between Rachel and Benedict on the screen is really high! You can also check out my Benedict Cumberbatch Interview!
In person, Rachel, is hilarious! From wanting her own cloak and wanting the weirdest superpower I have ever heard anyone say! If you are wondering what that might be, check out our interview below!
Doctor Strange Rachel McAdams Interview
How was it like being part of the Marvel Universe?
Rachel:Yeah. It was, it was everything I had hoped for and more really. I assumed I would be working with you know the crème de la crème really and I was. So it was just great to be in such great hands. And you now just from costumes to everything was just so well done, so beautifully thought through and well-crafted. And so –, and they didn’t even make me pretend that much with green screen.
Were you a Marvel fan prior to doing the role?
Rachel: I hadn’t read the Dr. Strange comics growing up. I was kind of reading you know Judy Blume and stuff like that. But yeah, but I’ve since educated myself. And I think they’re so different from you know, the Dr. Strange ones are so different from the other, from the other comics which is nice.
What did you have to do to prepare for your role? You’re playing a doctor. Did you do some research there or was there anything specific you did?
Rachel: Yeah. Yes, I’m a little funny when it comes to blood and guts and stuff like that. But, but and my mom’s a nurse so I’d kind of grown up with, around medicine which is probably why I became an actress instead. But I did get to shadow some amazing brain surgeons, a female brain surgeon in Toronto, another surgeon in London. And then we had a surgeon onset every day. So and he taught me to do sutures and was practicing on turkey breasts, raw turkey breasts.
Onset, what was it like to be in scrubs with everyone else all in superhero stuff?
Rachel: I loved it.So comfortable, I got to wear like orthopedic running shoes every day. And you know, like high heels are not –, you know the older you get the harder it is to wear them. So –, or for very long. So I was really grateful for that. And I was a little jealous of the levitation cloak but I was happy to be comfortable.
Your character is so intensely emotional in the film. Is there a special memory or place, how do you draw on that emotion for the character?
Rachel: Oh, oh, good question. I mean I do think having a mother as a nurse who’s a very kind of compass –, she’s so compassionate and she really unfortunately would take her work home with her sometimes. So, and I think Christine’s more that kind of character. So I think I kind of grew up with that a little bit and have great admiration for people who do that for a living and who are real empaths. So I suppose I drew on –, from my mom a bit.
So we know that this movie won’t be the end of Dr. strange, how do you feel about being further involved in the Marvel cinematic universe? And what would you like to see your character do if you had your choice?
Rachel: Oh, I want my own cloak. I mean, that’s also up in the air that you know –. I haven’t really thought about it because it’s you know, really is sort of to be determined. I think the success of the film you know determines that. And so, so we’ll see. So I mean I loved being a part of it so of course you know I would be more than happy to go forward with it. But you know, who knows.
Is there a superpower that you either have or is there a superpower that you would like to have?
Rachel: I would like to be invisible because I’d love to go into people’s houses and see their interior decorating. Don’t you guys, like when you’re driving at night and you’re like, and you can kind of see through the window and you think, oh that looks so cozy in there. I wish I could like get a free pass. Yeah, so that’s probably the one I’d pick. I’d be a total creeper but.
