Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Movie Review

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Movie Review

I feel lucky to be alive in the world during Harry Potter’s reign. I called in sick to work to finish The Sorcerer’s Stone. I went to the midnight parties hosted by Borders Book Store and basked in the craziness of my fellow fans. I cried big, fat, sloppy tears when Dumbledore died. I withered inside when Snape said “Always” (still do, every time). I felt renewed and happy to be part of something much bigger than myself. A movement, if you will, that celebrated good triumphing over evil. That is what the world needs right now. That world now belongs to Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and I am ready!  And you should be, too!

The new (yet old) magical world of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is inhabited by Newt and his friends Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol) and the lovable Muggle, Jacob (Dan Fogler). They have an all-American adventure leaving Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic and even England behind! It obviously involves magical creatures that would have made Hagrid jealous. It is fun and fast and a bit dark. In short, a JK Rowling production. The movie is lush in production. Every detail is magnificent from the costumes to the music to the cinematography to the special effects. The whole family will enjoy a holiday trip to the Cineplex to view this one.

You don’t need any prior knowledge of Harry Potter to love this movie. It starts off fresh and new and only makes passing references to its predecessors. It is its own thing. You will get to have that fresh “just fallen in love” feeling four more times with this series! Even if the Hogwarts Express passed you by the first time, you can still get onboard for the Fantastic Beasts series!
