What is the movie rated?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is rated PG-13. This is because of violence and profanity. Some characters, primarily Punisher, cussed quite a bit. There were also large weapons and close combat which may startle young children.  

What are the main themes of the movie?

The main themes of the movie are family, loss, and injustice. The movie showed how friends can become family and how those who you have lost can still continue supporting you. It also covers injustice through Sadie Sink’s character and through the actions Spider-Man makes.

Is the movie too long for little kids?

The movie is two hours and twenty-five minutes long. This may be long for younger kids, especially if you choose to go in the late afternoon or evening. This being said, every kid has a different limit and you know what’s best for your child.

Are there any explicit content or scenes that may not be suitable for my family?

The movie remains relatively family friendly, but there are some scenes which could be considered explicit for young audiences. There is a lot of gun violence, including some iconic characters getting shot and injured during fights. Along with this, there is a scene which has Black Widow and Spider-Man interacting at a hot tub. Nothing explicit is shown, but it is implied that both characters are undressed.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is available in 2D. It will be released on normal screens as well as Dolby’s immersive screens. We saw it on a Dolby screen which included Atmos audio, allowing for an incredibly immersive experience.

Does the movie have any controversial or sensitive themes?

The movie did not have any controversial themes, but it did have some sensitive ones. There were a lot of moments which related to grief and death which could be difficult for some audiences to handle.

Movie Review

Spider-Man: Brand New Day felt like a grounded and heartfelt movie. It did a very good job at balancing Peter Parker’s human struggles along with the difficulties that come with being a hero. The newer characters did an amazing job at introducing Spider-Man to new character dynamics which we haven’t seen in past movies. Along with this, it was a gorgeous movie. 

This movie was a refreshing Marvel film which did a wonderful job at reintroducing street level heroes to cinema. This being said, it also led to a lot of intrigue for Sadie Sink’s character and the future she will have on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
