Matthew Espinosa Exclusive Interview
How do you personally relate to Jordan?
Matthew: We have both have had some of the same experiences like going on tour (but for separate reasons considering he’s a musician).
Do you see yourself as more of an actor or more of a social media star?
Matthew: Definitely an actor but that’s not to say I will stop doing social media, I believe social media is a great way to get connected with fans and to have them grow with you through the words you speak.
Are there any more movies in your future?
Matthew: Yes definitely. I can’t wait to do more film. I want to make captivating films that tell a strong message behind them. That’s my main focus.
It looks like you had a lot of fun making this movie, but was it “work” on the set?
Matthew: Yes it was work most definitely. But overall such a impactful experience that helped me grow as a actor and film maker. I can’t wait to do more!
Is the movie environment much different than being surrounded by Viners and YouTubers?
Matthew: The movie environment is definitely much different than being surrounded by voters and youtubers because it’s something I’ve wanted to do my whole life and now that it’s here I am so thankful so I definitely think the main difference is the professional vibe on set. When you are shooting a YouTube video, you are on your own time, when you are on a movie set. You are on others time, which is a little more nerve wracking.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations when it comes to acting? Who motivates you and keeps you uplifted through all the hard work?
Matthew: Looking up to actors such as Leo, Will Smith, James Franco, Shia labouf, as well as my family and close friends that help motivate me to become a better me.
Do you think your past with MAGCON and with all of your social media was a key in discovering what you wanted to do for your career?
Matthew: Even though it really went going for like 3-4 months, the exponential growth on my channel was helped a lot by MAGCON, I personally enjoyed it, but I am glad I have moved on and had started making film.
Be Somebody
Pop superstar Jordan Jaye (Matthew Espinosa) has a big dream — he just wants to live like a regular teenager. When he’s chased down by some excited female fans, he finds a perfect hideout and a reluctant new friend from a small town, high-school art student, Emily Lowe (Sarah Jeffery, Descendants). Despite being from different worlds, they soon discover they have way more in common than they ever imagined. Over the course of several days, the two embark on an unexpected journey of friendship, first love and self-discovery — proving that maybe opposites really do attract.
