I was invited on an expense paid trip to New York City to attend a special screening, Ricki-themed night out, and the press junket to promote the upcoming movie, “Ricki and the Flash” movie. All of my opinions are honest.
If you are looking for a “Ricki and the Flash” review, I am going to share with all of you my thoughts on this movie. I had the pleasure to review this movie in New York at the Press Junket prior to the World Premiere. “Ricki and the Flash” is a genuine and heart felt movie about love, family, and tough decisions. Prior to watching the preview, I thought I was going to see an 80s-like Coyote Ugly-type movie of a mom wanting to be Rock Star. I was wrong. This movie is about unconditional love, family, following your dreams, life struggles, and so much more. It is a deep movie about relationships and outcomes.
The movie will have you rooting for every single person and understanding what each one is going through. Along with the strong emotions that might have you laughing, worrying, and understanding the love and hurt that each person in the movie was feeling. There was one huge theme in the movie about life decisions and loving your kids. Meryl Streep’s character sings a song about “Love will never fail.” Rick Springfield’s character, Greg, has a strong emotional line in the movie while he is explaining to Ricki (Meryl Streep’s character), that it isn’t her kids’ job to love her that it is her job to love them! This moment on the movie was a very strong one and might have had you wiping tears from your face and feeling the love that two people had.
You learn in this movie that you can’t run away from love. You physically can, but the love will always be there. There were so many decisions that each character made in their lives that affected their family that they all had struggles. Each decision affected each other and their relationships. I found myself rooting for the family to be able to stick together, love each other, and not feel the hurt of the past but the rekindled love for a new beginning!
Ricki and the Flash is in theaters TODAY! Be sure to get your tickets now!
