Our Elf is back and we have some entertaining and easy ideas you won’t want to miss this year. One of our favorites so far is our Elf on the Shelf COCO idea with a Day of the Dead mask and Miguel’s guitar!

Elf on the Shelf COCO or Day of the Dead

Picture your elf, donned in a festive mask, strumming away on a pint-sized guitar, serenading the air with holiday tunes, or the song “Remember Me” from Coco!  It’s a whimsical sight that adds an extra layer of enchantment to your family’s holiday decor.

You can get really crafty with this Elf on the Shelf if you want to invest money, but our family is always on the go. We love being able to do quick and easy Elf on the Shelf ideas.

Elf on the Shelf is undoubtedly one of the most cherished traditions during our family’s holiday season. While some parents may choose to go all out with elaborate setups and invest in an array of miniature accessories, along with making huge messes, our family resonates with the on-the-go spirit.

We thrive on the joy of quick and easy Elf on the Shelf ideas that seamlessly blend into our bustling schedule.

Coco is one of our favorite movies.  It really did a good job at bringing culture into just such a great film about family.

You can also add a great Coco quote to your Coco-themed Elf on the shelf.

Accessorizing your Coco Elf on the Shelf

Another great idea to add to this Elf on the Shelf idea is get those paper flag banners popular in Mexico called hispanic papel picado. You can find some on Amazon here!  The flags are a decorative craft that you can even do on your own!

You can also make your own papel picado using colored tissue paper! It would even be cute if you made it look like your elf did the design!

Another big thing that Coco is into is family. You can have your elf create an elf-inspired family tree!

How do you get started with Elf on the Shelf

To get started with Elf on the Shelf, you will want to get the book with the doll!  Most elves are mischievous and fun.

The best way to get a lot of ideas is to use printables like the one listed.

Quick and Easy Ideas

Also, I found the cheapest and best way to help your elf on busy weeks is to make an early trip to the dollar store and stock up on some last-minute items.

These last-minute items can be candy, candy canes, hot cocoa, coloring books, and so much more!

Once you have the book and ideas read the book to your little one while keeping your elf out of hand reach.  The story will explain the story of the elf.  Then once your little one goes to bed at night your elf will magically move around the house and do silly things!

Our elf is part of our family! One of my favorite Holiday pics was when our elf was hiding in our stocking and we did family photos in front of it!

About the movie Coco:

Despite his family’s generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
