Keeping Your Classroom Clean - Tips and Benefits!

When it comes to keeping your classroom clean there are tons of benefits! Just like in every day life when your surroundings are clean and less cluttered, it is easy to focus. You should be able to always be learning in a great environment that is pleasant! I went ahead and created a list of the benefits one would have by keeping their classroom clean and some of my tips!

Benefits of Keeping Your Classroom Clean:

Helps students focus.

Students take more care of the equipment around them.

Teachers are more organized keeping them more productive.

Keeping Your Classroom Clean TIPS:

Creating a cleaning calendar for your classroom. As a computer teacher it didn’t take me long to realize how many hands touch each keyboard and each mouse every day. Also, there are things that totally gross me out like the dreaded bathroom pass. Make sure you are disinfecting those every day!

Assign students to help with items on your cleaning calendar! Even though I have high school students as soon as I get the disinfectant spray and wipes out they are all asking to wipe down their areas! Especially when I remind them of all of the students that use each computer each day! ☺ They love to help…even washing down the chalkboards are fun for them!

Get your classroom to smell good. I have a new tall Febreze Air Purifier in my classroom and it is great! Not only do I have lots and lots of high school students coming in and out of my classroom, but I have other smells that sneak into my room. I have a connecting classroom with a microwave that is in a joining room. Every day there is the smell of salmon that comes through! Since I have been using a Febreze filled air filter, I now only get compliments that my classroom smells like soap!

Febreze Air Purifier

I love having this Febreze Air Purifier! I now want them in other sizes for my house! I love the fact that it helps with dust and allergies and more! I am allergic to human dander and dust so working in a classroom doesn’t always have me feeling my top energetic self!

I know how distracting a smell in the classroom can be. If I taught full-time I’d totally consider doing this!

Right now, my kitchen table is my daughter’s classroom. I have a terrible time keeping it uncluttered. I am planning on adding a small room to the basement to be our dedicated classroom and craft room.

Dust makes me so uncomfortable, and it definitely distracts me. I can see how this could be a big help in the classroom.
