I was provided an all expense paid trip from Marvel/Disney to attend this Press Junket. All opinions are my own.
Corey Stoll Interview
Corey Stoll plays Darren Cross also known as “Yellow Jacket” in Marvel’s Ant-Man! I had the opportunity to interview him during the Ant-Man press junket that I was invited to be a part of while I was in L.A.! If you are a House of Cards fan you will recognize him! Much of our interview consisted of how Corey LOVED playing the villain and how he was a Marvel Comics fan!
Corey LOVING the title as “Ant-Man Villain”!
When asking Corey about how hard it was to play the villain, like any great villain would say, “It was not hard at all!” He talked about how fun it was during filming! They actually didn’t film the movie in chronological order. “The first day of filming was stunts and abstract and pure play. It was really fun! The next day we filmed the scene when he shows up at Hank Pym’s house. I LOVED how a loser he was. H wants to be Tony Stark—wants to be cool!”
One of the cool things we learned about Corey in our interview was that he actually had a meeting with Marvel executives years ago and he told them that he wanted to play a villain!
We learned that Corey is a Marvel fan!
Corey is really into comic books. He would say that his favorite is “Spider-Man”. He liked the “New York-ness” of it! “As a kid from Queens the fantasy to be able to swing from the buildings I see each day is really cool!”
Corey Stoll Talking About Technology
Corey talked about how he got to use his imagination and pretend. He mentioned how much technology went into the part and Darren Cross’s job. He said that when he was in the suit, “I felt like a power ranger.” Continuing on about technology, “Yeah, this stuff didn’t end up in the film, but when he is first selling the Yellow Jacket and the technology… the beneficial applications of this technology and you realize that this ACTUALLY could save the world!” He went on about all the good things this technology could actually do: shrinking coal, surgeon doing micro-surgeries, and MORE!
Be sure to go and see Marvel’s NEW next BIG (or really really small) THING on July 17, 2015!
The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man” when master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats.
