For years my husband and I have treated each other to jewelry for gifts! Actually, my husband has treated ME to jewelry more than I have treated him! I have purchased several rings for him, but he has treated me to several every type of jewelry you can imagine. He has seriously purchased a gold ankle bracelet for me. I don’t wear it, I am not sure I ever did. They were in style back then.
The moment my husband stopped buying me jewelry…
If you can purchase jewelry for someone you love do it! Jewelry is something that the person you purchase for will have it forever. My husband and I have been together for 18 1/2 years. I wish I had some great story to tell you about the moment my husband stopped buying me jewelry but I don’t. Steve and I have been through a lot together. Life is a lot to handle and when you have been together since high school, you grow together, you struggle together, and you are together through every curveball life sends you.
It has been a couple of years since Steve has been able to buy me jewelry. It isn’t because he doesn’t love me. I get lots of love in many other ways. After all, there are tons of Love Languages out there. It is because we are going through one of the toughest times in our relationship. Steve has had to take an active roll in helping us with this blog, being daddy day care, and basically trying to take care of the house. It isn’t easy. Our two year old hangs all over him while he is trying to be productive in the day. He is looking for jobs all the time. We are just not balancing ways to increase our income while growing this little blog!
I am totally okay with the fact that I haven’t received jewelry as a gift, but what I do love is that the jewelry he has purchased me, I wear ever single day! The necklace I am wearing now I have worn for 13 years almost every day including our wedding, when we had our kids, and even as I walked Red Carpets (because of the growth of the blog). I have also worn this jewelry through tough times. When we found out our family’s business was going to have to shut down because we had millions embezzled from us…and more! Jewelry lasts forever and so should the love you have with your family and friends!
