Crime 101 is an action-packed thief and cop movie that will have you cheering for both sides of the drama! It is the type of movie that I liked, my father-in-law liked, and even my teenage daughter! The first appeal was the cast, which includes Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo. The movie was so well told that it wasn’t just a star-studded cast but a great movie. Now the question remains, although our family enjoyed the film, “Is Crime 101 Appropriate for Families?”

Is Crime 101 Appropriate for Families?

You can purchase discounted movie tickets through this deals site and use them for this film!
What is the movie rated?
The movie is rated R. Not only is there crime, a little bit of language, but you might see the backside of a lady, and on a computer, you see a very inappropriate website being scrolled for a few seconds, but enough time to turn your head away.
What are the main themes of the movie?
I think that the main theme of the movie would have to do with ethics and decision-making. The theme can definitely be interpreted differently by everyone. Life is tough, and each of the main cast members had struggles of some sort in their work environment and had to make some unfavorable decisions. Without giving the movie away, that is about all I can say.

Is the movie too long for little kids?
The movie’s running time is 2 hours and 19 minutes. Young kids should not be going to see the movie. The movie was not too long for me, and it kept our theater’s audience engaged the entire time.
Are there any explicit content or scenes that may not be suitable for my family?
Yes. There is some bad language, theft, violence, nudity, and some very bad images that are being scrolled on the computer for several seconds of the film. Enough time to ask your older kids 17+ to close their eyes.
Does the movie have any controversial or sensitive themes?
Other than the entire premise of the movie, which involves theft and unethical decision-making, no.
Movie Review
My daughter and I had the exact first thought of the videography of the film being absolutely stunning and creative. The film did these amazing transitions that didn’t take away from the storyline but helped enhance it. They also had some very unique camera angles during just the right parts of the film that the average person wouldn’t notice, but wow, was it great!
As for the storyline, it is totally crazy to me when you start almost rooting for the robber in the film, but you do. The movie is the type of film that a lot of people are going to enjoy. It is even getting some great Rotten Tomatoes scores!
There is an older film called “Officer and a Gentleman,” which I have not seen, but I was told that, for some reason, Crime 101 sparked memories of that film for my father-in-law. Now I am told that it is on my “to be watched” list.

About the Movie:
Set against the sun-bleached grit of Los Angeles, Crime 101 weaves the tale of an elusive jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth) whose string of heists along the 101 freeway have mystified police. When he eyes the score of a lifetime, his path crosses that of a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry) who is facing her own crossroads. Convinced he has found a pattern, a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo) is closing in, raising the stakes even higher. As the heist approaches, the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur, and all three are faced with life-defining choices–and the realization that there can be no turning back.
