The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
When you are on your fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, you realize that you probably shouldn’t count on Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) to help carry out your plan. And yet, here we are again. This time, Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites), son of Will Turner/Davey Jones (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), and Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario) need Sparrow to help find Poseidon’s trident which will wipe out all previous cast curses. So the story begins. . .
This movie, though still steeped in the supernatural, follows a more traditional buccaneer movie plot than the previous Disney Pirate films. It’s an old fashioned pirate movie with chase scenes, peg legs, sea battles, treasure maps, rum and a certain amount of swashbuckling. No Errol Flynn, however. The movie does retain the humor from the franchise, luckily.
The movie is rated PG-13. There is some violence, but with little to no sexual situations or cursing involved. Can the kids handle it? You know you’re in trouble when the zombie sharks show up, but I don’t want to give too much away. Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) and his crew are a wee bit scary but they also look really cool. Carina is a great role model for girls. She is the smartest person on the adventure by far. She doesn’t need saving ever. Well, maybe once. But I think under the circumstances, I’ll allow it (again- NO SPOILERS).
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is, in my opinion, the best movie of the franchise. It ties up the whole series in a neat package and puts a pretty bow on top. It will make you forget On Stranger Tides, if you haven’t already. Captain Jack Sparrow goes out with style!

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
