Disney’s Wrinkle in Time was a magical movie about being positive in life. It was visually stunning, a great story, and an amazing star-studded cast. Step out of reality for about an hour and step into a universe. The magic of the movie, allows one to step out of this world and learn more about it!
Wrinkle in Time was based on the book by Madeleine L’Engle. It is a very popular book, that I am ashamed to say that I never did read growing up. I am going to try to encourage my daughter to read the book prior to taking her to the movie this weekend. It is about a middle school student who is the daughter of two well known physicists. When her father goes missing trying to meet the universe, Meg and her brother find a “wrinkle in time” and travel the universe to find their dad.
Like many middle school students, Meg struggles with fitting in with her peers. She eventually ends up making the biggest different in their adventure. If you are a Zach Galifianakis fan, like myself you will also find some pretty funny moments int he film. He plays “Happy Medium” in the movie.
If you have seen the movie definitely check out our Wrinkle in Time quotes and tell me if you can find the Hamilton reference!
Will there be a Wrinkle in Time 2 for Disney? That is a great question since there are several books in this series! I am curious to learn more about Meg’s adventures, so for now I need to read the books!
From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.
Meg Murry is a typical middle school student struggling with issues of self-worth who just wants to fit in. The daughter of two world-renowned physicists, she is intelligent and uniquely gifted, as is Meg’s younger brother, Charles Wallace, but she has yet to realize it for herself. Complicating matters is the mysterious disappearance of Mr. Murry, which has left Meg devastated and her mother broken-hearted. Charles Wallace introduces Meg and her fellow classmate Calvin to three celestial beings (Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Who) who have journeyed to Earth to help search for their father, and together they embark on their formidable quest. Travelling via a wrinkling of time and space known as tessering, they are transported to worlds beyond their imagination where they must confront a powerful evil force. To make it back home to Earth, Meg must face the darkness within herself in order to harness the strength necessary to defeat the darkness rapidly enveloping the Universe.
