John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum Review

I was seriously ready to plant my bottom in the theater for 2 hours and 11 minutes to find out how John Wick’s saga ended. I mean, we all know how it started- a dog, amirite? It turns out his story isn’t over. It may never be over with crossovers, TV shows, more movies and video games. LONG LIVE JOHN WICK! (In my mind I am now imagining an 80-year old John Wick taking on a hostile band of nursing home escapees hell bent on kicking puppies.)

So a quick primer about the first two movies: they are about vengeance. VENGEANCE. And like that, BOOM! you’re ready for part 3.  If you have seen the movie check out myJohn Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum Quotes list!

Keanu Reeves once again dons the stylish suit and startlingly lank hair of John Wick, former hitman and current fugitive. This time, however, he has crossed the violence line (what? You didn’t know that killers had honor codes?) and has killed someone on the grounds of the lavish Continental Hotel which serves as a sanctuary for the seedy, yet well connected members of society’s underbelly. The manager of the hotel Winston (Ian McShane) gives John one hour head start before he becomes “excommunicado”. This means that John needs to call in markers and favors and get out of town fast. He is assisted begrudgingly from the likes of The Director (Anjelica Huston) and Sofia (Halle Berry). All the while he is hunted by many, many assassins and the Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon) of the High Table, the governing body of the baddies. It’s a cat and mouse action thriller where John Wick is the cat. He will always be a cat. That loves dogs.

If you enjoy stylized violence (and I know many of you do), you will get a kick out of John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum. Don’t worry if you miss a shooting or a craven act. There will always be another violent scene on the way.

What is the movie rated? Good question. I asked myself that very question after the first big fight scene. Turns out, it’s only rated R. The rating board gives violence a pass.

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum is now playing in theaters!
