Walgreens “Take Care Clinics” are revamping and becoming the Walgreens “Healthcare Clinic“. They have expanded their services to be a lot more convenient. These services will help you think twice next time you need a quick visit to the doctor. I often ask myself why the doctor’s office feels their time is more valuable than mine. I KNOW what they are doing is medical and very important, but I have several bitter feelings and experiences. I have spent so many wasted hours waiting on hold, waiting to be seen, and then waiting for prescriptions.

I am recalling a time I had a scheduled doctor’s visit for a check up. I called a half and hour prior to the appointment to confirm that they were running on time. I know that if I miss MY appointment I am charged. I made it to my appointment 5-10 minutes early and asked if they were still running on time and they said, “yes”. It was an hour and a half and two rooms later before I actually got to see my doctor. Surely, they could have figured something out for making me spend that extra time I didn’t have. My doctor didn’t know why the office didn’t tell me she was running behind schedule. This happens a lot more frequently than you think. I wanted to let you know that you have other options like, Walgreens Healthcare Clinic, when needing medicine and not wanting or having (in my situation) the time to waste.

Lets say you are like me and get 2-3 sinus infections a year. I know every stage as soon as I get one. I also know I eventually will need a prescription to get rid of it. Here are some advantages and ways I can save time with the newly revamped Walgreens Healthcare Clinic:

walgreens-healthcare-clinic

  • I can go to their Walgreens Clinic website and view currently locations and FIND wait time prior to going.–> Locations and Wait Time.

  • You can also schedule your appointment on their website. This will save you time from being put on hold. Every time I go to schedule my appointment for my doctor the receptionist answers with, “Good Morning! Can you hold please?” I don’t even think she waits for me to respond. 🙂

  • Don’t want to schedule an appointment because that might take too much time. Walk-Ins are accepted too!
  • One Trip. You have an on-site pharmacy! So if you know you are going to need some medicine this will also save you even more time than doing two trips. If you have to wait for your medicine at all you can do a little shopping while you wait. My Walgreens pages me when my medicine is ready.

So is your doctor’s time more valuable than yours? It depends on the situation in my opinion. But if you are needing a quick appointment, or don’t have a primary care physician, or you’re schedule is busy, you can check out the new and improved Walgreens Healthcare Clinic by stopping in or scheduling an appointment online.

Take a minute and comment below with the longest you have ever had to wait for a scheduled appointment.

I hate waiting. Before I had my son some of my pregnancy doctors appointments it would take up to 2 hours! Thank goodness I had my iPhone to keep me entertained. 🙂

It is time we take our power back and not stand for waiting. I told my doctor off last year for making me wait 1 hour.
    That is unreasonable!

My father in law sent an invoice to his doctor after waiting too long. The doctor got on the phone and called him to find out what was going on and apologized. I am tempted to do the same every time. 🙂

This sounds like a great idea – there is definitely something that people want! Waiting is the worst.

Waiting is the worst! I usually take my phone and read Kindle books or browse through my apps while waiting! Good to know about the Walgreens Healthcare clinic since we have one around the corner!

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a doctor appointment that was on-time. Maybe the doctor office managers could learn something from Walgreens (and publish their wait times on their website).

I seriously HATE getting to the dr and end up waiting FOREVER to see the Dr. Seriously! Like you said if we miss our appointment we get charged for it. I think if THEY miss our appointment, they should give us a discount. 🙂

I love the idea behind Walgreens! It would definitely save me a lot of time next time I need a Dr Appointment. Plus the pharmacy is right there in the same building! A lot less time!!

I realize doctors have emergencies, but my time is also valuable. I try to go early in the day to minimize wait time. I will wait up to an hour and then I walk up to the front desk and ask to schedule an appointment at another time.

I had to wait over two hours for an OB appointment when I was pregnant with #3. I also waited a couple of hours at the pediatrician’s office before. It was INSANE. I had two very small children with me and was about to go APE. I love that Walgreens is a one stop sick shop!
