Was Wonder Park too sad for my girls?

My family and I were excited to watch Wonder Park! At first I was a bit nervous since I had came across some reviews of it being a downer and too sad. I am totally not into sad movies and I think movies should not only spark stories and tell stories, but they should be uplifting This is a sponsored post and giveaway.  This post also contains affiliate links. Was Wonder Park too sad for my girls?

Wonder Park is about tells the story of a magnificent amusement park where the imagination of a wildly creative girl named June comes alive. The bright colors and imagination look gorgeous. Watch our trailer reaction video below:

The voice cast had  tons of famous voices that I always enjoy seeing if I can recognize them. The star-studded cast including Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, John Oliver, Mila Kunis, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Norbert Leo Butz, Brianna Denski and Ken Hudson Campbell do an amazing job at telling a story.

When we watched the movie, my girls and I both enjoyed the movie. It was great and my girls and I discussed that although June tried to tear down her Wonder Park that her and her mom made that you can erase the memories in your imagination.  My daughters are 10 and 5 and they both did great watching the movie and zero tears were shed.

Was Wonder Park too sad for my girls?

My girls favorite part was when mom came back from “being sick”. The writers of the film never really did say what was wrong with the mom but they made it sound like she was dying. I imagined her leaving to go to a Mayo Clinic for treatment. The majority of the movie focussed on June turning the real amusement park into a working attraction. There are tons of deep metaphors in the film that you can discuss with your older kids.

I thought the illustrations and colors of the film were gorgeous and eye popping! The majority of the movie was magical and gorgeous!

You can now purchase the movie on DVD/Blu-ray!
